How To Practice NSR
NSR Is Transcending
Natural Stress Relief™ is a type of mantra meditation, but it is not chanting (as in japa meditation). The remarkable effectiveness of NSR comes from the unique and subtle way it is practiced, using a technique called transcending, which is taught in a 3-day, at-home course which we mail to you. Unlike the most popular form of meditation, breathing awareness (often associated with "mindfulness" because it is one of the techniques advocated by a major popularizer of mindfulness, Jon Kabat-Zinn), NSR does not keep the attention on concrete activity at the surface level of consciousness. Nor does it result in mental or physical fatigue, as do many teachings based on breathing awareness. Instead, NSR sets up mental conditions so that transcending (known as dhyana in the tradition of Yoga) happens naturally, with the attention settling inward due to the increased enjoyment experienced during the process. Since body and mind are connected, this settling of the attention results in a very deep state of rest in the body. This state of deep rest is deeper than that produced during sleep at night, resulting in the elimination of stress stored in the nervous system. We practice NSR effortlessly for 15 minutes twice a day, with the eyes closed, while sitting in a comfortable chair. No changes are needed in your lifestyle. Simply adding these two easy sessions to your day brings all the promised results, gradually, through the elimination of stresses stored in the nervous system. It is just that simple, which is why we have received so many unsolicited client testimonials.NSR Is Transcending
